About

Me...

My name is Lindsey and I'm an artist of sorts. I like to say that I make things pretty whether it's an apple tart, a wrapped gift, words on a page or a pair of earrings. I'm a very creative person and that quality extends into all aspects of my life. I enjoy baking, cooking, writing, art and design.

This small space that I've reserved here serves as an outlet to allow me to share my creativity with people like you. I'd like to give to you the experience I have in the things that I love and, in the process, gain more.

First, let me tell you a little about myself. I'm in my twenties and like many people my age I'm still not sure what I want to be when I grow up. I've been to university, art school in fact. After two years in the curatorial program I decided to switch majors and settled on printmaking instead. After another year of that I realized that what I needed was not a change in academic focus, but a change in life focus. Without a clue what that was I floundered around for a while until I landed in a home in Edmonton, Alberta with the love of my life, Lee.

I've realized that I don't want to paint pictures or sell prints to make a living. I love art, but there are many forms of art. I apply the same eye for detail and perfectionism that I would in carving a block print that I do in frosting a cake or finishing a chapter. So I make jewelry, I bake cupcakes, I cook turkey, I write novels because that is my art. I paint pretty pictures with my pen, my piping bag, and my needle-nose pliers.

I'm not your everyday artist, but this is what works for me. This is what I love. This I share with you.

Photography...

I don't have any formal training in photography but what I do know I picked up from my dad who is a professional quality photographer. My photography improves everyday as I continue to learn new tips and tricks.

All my photography is done in indirect natural light on top of my deep freezer in the kitchen. My camera is a Canon EOS Digital Rebel SLR and I shoot with a 50mm macro lens as well as a 18-55mm lens.

The program I use for editing purposes is Photoshop CS5. I try to keep my photos and their composition as natural and original as possible. The only editing I do is some cropping and light leveling.
